Conference: Reducing Textile Microplastics - Solutions from Research and Industry

Which are the most promising approaches for reducing the entrance of textile microplastics into the environment? Which findings from textile research and water chemistry have been obtained? What role may recycling and biodegradable fibre materials play? Questions like these will be the focus of a conference on 7 November 2019 hosted by the partner organisations of the joint project "TextileMission".

The aim of the event is to present the activities and interim results of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research's funding project "TextileMission" to a specialist audience and to offer an exchange platform of representatives from industry, research, politics and environmental protection agencies.

Central topics will be:

  •     Causes and extent of microplastic loss in textiles
  •     Development of lower-emission textiles
  •     Biodegradable plastics as alternative fibre materials
  •     Textile recycling and circular economy
  •     Retention of textile microplastics in sewage treatment plants
